AN ALPHA LAMBDA INSPIRATION/LEADER A. Thornton Edwards, #386 KSU '41 was initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Kansas State University in 1950 and served as chapter advisor and board member of the Alpha Lambda chapter for many years. Frater Edwards captivated new initiates with his rendition of ‘The Ode to the Skull’ for over four decades. Frater Edwards is remembered as a great inspiration to, and leader of the Alpha Lambda chapter. Frater Edwards served Kansas State for over 27 years until he retired as Director of Housing in 1973. The University honored Frater Edwards distinguished career at Kansas State in 1978 with the naming of Edwards Hall. Edwards died in 2001 at 93. The A. Thornton Edwards Society carries forward the name, inspiration and leadership of this great Alpha Lambda Teke. THE EDWARDS SOCIETY & FOUNDER’S CIRCLE In honor of Frater Edwards and the outstanding leaders who have preceded and succeeded him, the Alpha Lambda Alumni Association formally established the A. Thornton Edwards Society in 2000. The Society recognizes those who have demonstrated a tangible interest in supporting the Alpha Lambda chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon and who have expressed a desire to become more closely associated with the chapter’s mission, plans and projects. Throughout its history, the Alpha Lambda chapter has been blessed with many fraters and friends who have realized that the vision and traditions of a great fraternity depended on significant financial support. Membership in the Society is offered to fraters and friends who, in this same tradition, are willing to make an unrestricted lifetime investment of $5,000 or more. Those who contribute $10,000 or more qualify for the Society’s Founder’s Circle. Contributions in support of the Society begin in calendar year 2000. Membership helps to place the chapter on solid financial footing for the future and serves to inspire the entire Alpha Lambda community to greater effort. For more information:
