TEKE Scholarship Program

In February of 2005 the Alpha Lambda Alumni Association launched an ambitious new program to recognize, reward and promote excellence within the Alpha Lambda chapter of Teke at Kansas State. The goal of the 'Teke Scholarship Program' is to consolidate, organize, expand and strengthen the chapter's existing modest program and over time, build the Teke Scholarship Program into a premier scholarship program among KSU fraternities. The Teke Scholarship Program includes three primary initiatives:

• Raise FUNDED dollars (collected and distributed in the academic year they are received) to support awards to Teke ACTIVES in leadership, academics, athletics and character,

• Raise ENDOWED dollars (collected and deposited into various KSU Foundation endowments benefiting Tekes) to support awards to Teke ACTIVES in leadership, academics and character, and

• Raise FUNDED dollars to support awards to Teke PLEDGES from selected Kansas high schools

KSU Foundation Endowed Scholarships

There are currently five endowed scholarships (Caldwell, Duff, Edwards, Harbaugh, Heyka) benefiting Alpha Lambda Tekes established through the KSU Foundation.  Thanks to the generous support of Teke alumni and friends, the collective market value of the endowments is more than $96,000! The endowed scholarships are only one part of an ambitious and comprehensive initiative sponsored by the Alpha Lambda Alumni Association to recognize, reward and promote excellence in the Alpha Lambda chapter.

The Alpha Lambda Alumni Association, in cooperation with the KSU Foundation, coordinates an annual, year-end solicitation of the Alpha Lambda community of alumni and friends to significantly strengthen and expand the fund balance of all endowed scholarships benefiting future generations of Alpha Lambda Tekes.

Contributions to any or all of the endowed scholarships benefit the Alpha Lambda community in several ways. First, contributions are invested in the KSU Foundation ‘Pooled Endowment Fund’ managed by professional money mangers. The Fund is designed to ensure that future growth is sufficient to offset endowment awards and inflation. Second, contributions made to Teke scholarships at the KSU Foundation are tax deductible. Third, many corporations will match their employees’ gifts to Kansas State University with an equal or even greater corporate contribution. If you work for a matching gift company, contact your human resources department to see if your gift qualifies for a company match, or contact KSU Foundation Matching Gift Coordinator.
